January/February

Looking forward to life slowing down a bit...
Today when I went to blog for February I realized that I never blogged for January!  I am someone who is very routine and doesn't usually forget routine tasks.  This was just an eye opener to me that this shows just how busy I was!

One afternoon I had to take off early for basketball and met Mike at Kinkaider for lunch since I had just a bit more time.  I ordered this sandwich and was a bit shocked when I saw it!  It had two fried onion rings and two fried tomatoes, which is what made it so big.  It was pretty good--not sure though that I would order it again because it was hard to eat!

During conference week, while I was of course at conferences, Mike took the kids for some ice cream to celebrate them having good conferences.

Reeve has had a plantar's wart for awhile now and went in to get it froze off!  This was the before:)

Loved seeing our girls whip out Uno when the bus driver couldn't get the door to the bus open and we were stuck waiting for a bit.  These girls sure are a great group of ladies!

During January we finally got to meet our beautiful niece Olivia!

Team dinner at our place-we crowded the girls in for some cards, great food, and great laughs!

Coach Ray asked me three times if Reeve could play with these girls in this one tournament.  I just felt that she was too little.  One day she came and begged me to play.  I had her go to some practices to decide what she thought and of course she loved it!  It sure was cute watching them play:)

Reeve was such a big girl feeding Olivia her bottle!

Joden did some Junior Islander practices with all these boys.  Thankful he had this opportunity to work on skills and have fun with other boys his age!

Reeve and her 100th day of school poster!

In regards to one of the reasons why I think I forgot to blog in January was my dad had to have a quadruple bypass which was not expected.  Between juggling basketball, work, being a mom, a wife, and being there for my family, my brain was just on overload.  Dad recovered fairly well, but as I will write about below, he ended up back in Lincoln.  In the big picture though we are super grateful that dad is here with us today!  He had 99% blockage in one artery and 100% in the other--he is lucky that he did not die of a massive heart attack!

This was when dad finally made it home!

Snapped this picture at a game because it gave me that great feeling in my heart!  It was just a moment of feeling grateful for my time coaching because of the friendships made for myself and for my kids, as well as having the kids around basketball and hopefully creating a love for the game!

This is how coaches kids survive the many days of being in the gym!

Joden played in one tournament this year, Hoops Mania.  It was a good starter tournament for him before he plays more next year.

This was a snow day we had so the kids were encouraged to get out their Kinects and play with them!

I got to go visit the kids for lunch one day because I was doing some work over at admin!  Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture with Reeve:(

We took a group photo with the crew we worked with that day because it was I Love Public Schools Day!

This was a fun night!  We went to the Hastings-Concordia game at Hastings.  It was so awesome to watch the next level of women's basketball.

I found some new drinks I like and if I am interpreting the bottle correctly, it is fairly healthy for you:)

More time in the gym!

Reeve got to sneak away one weekend to Sidney with her dad.  Best part was she got to spend some time with her cousin Piper!

Tried a beer mixture--it was not bad:)

Joden at his cousin Delayna's birthday party!

Senior night!

Reeve participated in the cheer camp at GI and had a blast!

Sure enjoyed having the opportunity to coach Syd and Alexa over the last four years!
Also, aren't miss Reeve and Ava cute:)

Super Bowl fun in our almost finished basement!

Joden has begged for a fun haircut the last few years-we just honestly had trouble finding someone who could do it!  When he went to his most recent haircut our hairdresser told us they hired someone that can do it-score:)

Here is my dad back in the hospital.  What happened was he had fluid that filled up around his heart and he had to go back to have it drained.  Then just last weekend he had to go back a third time for the same issue.  We are hoping that this will be the last of it!!

This is the crew, minus Ray, that I coached with this year.  We sure had a blast each and every day together!  This night we went out for some fun at the escape room in Hastings.  We got out with 45 seconds to spare:)

Valentine's day was crazy busy so a beverage at 9pm was as good as we could do!

Mike's sister Shannon always comes down for state dance each year.  This year she brought our niece Lainey-she is so fun to be around!  I love her maturity and outlook on life:)

Reeve with her cousin Piper!  They get along so well.

We snuck away for a little adult time!

Mike's sister Heather sent this picture of our nephew Grant and his girlfriend:)  They are pretty cute!

Districts at Pius!
Had to snap a photo with our two seniors:)

GI boys district game was such a great game, but unfortunately we lost in overtime:(  I thought this picture was cute of the kids watching so closely!

We are dog sitting for my moms dogs while my dad is back in the hospital.  One of their dogs, Izzy, has taken over Zaley's bed:)  My dad refers to her as fat dog!

Long story short this is my face from January 1st to this past weekend.  I switched face washes and now am on the right track this week.  It was very frustrating, but just goes to show why I need face wash and how I need the right one for my skin type!

The flu hit Reeve on Sunday and she has been home 4 days now.  Tomorrow she will head back to school and make it at least one day this week!

As always, it is so good to reflect on life since sometimes we are so busy, forgetting to appreciate each and every moment!  As I searched for a verse about slowing down, this caught my eye....
In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the LORD establishes their steps. – Proverbs 16:9
