July was filled with making sweet summertime memories--lots of those with family! With our kids now being 8 and 6 this really has been one of my most favorite summers as a mom. They are much more independent and we typically do not melt down due to the need to rest. It typically means we are all less crabby:)
July began at my parents place! Avery will be an 8th grader so she is the official golf cart driver. She luckily has no other older cousins to compete with, but I can only picture the fights that will come over who gets to drive with the two 9 year olds and the 8 year old!
My parents live on the golf course at Lake Mac so we get to entertain and exhaust the kids at the lake.
Sisters!
One of my sisters friends who came down is a baseball coach so he gave Joden a few pointers. Is that backdrop gorgeous or what?
A high school friend of mine was at the lake and they willingly took Joden on his first tube ride. Of course he loved every minute of it!
Loved that he fell asleep on the way home because we had a 4th of July party to attend that night!
Got to help my dear friend celebrate her 30th birthday at Wasabi!
We went to our good friends, the Olsen's house, for a 4th party on the 3rd.
Water balloon fight for the kids:)
Fireworks!
Sure do love doing life with these 3💙
Glow sticks for all the kids𝩀😏
Then on the 4th we went to Fernau's-great friends we met through coaching basketball-who live right by where the firework show is!
This dude never seizes to amaze me! Started out the summer with a front flip and before I knew it he was doing a back flip. Love his bravery, but sometimes it honestly makes me nervous!
Reeve and I did makeup on each other with some makeup she got for her birthday. These are memories that I hope she cherishes forever and ones that remind me to say yes-even when I am super busy-because there is no going back. They are only little once and before I know it they will enjoy hanging with their friends more than their mom!
Reeve was in gymnastics camp (she begged me to put her in) so we went on a lunch date!
First two teeth have been lost and it is quite interesting how they are coming in!
Gymnastics camp performance! She loved it and I was very impressed with her skills. It really did seem as if she improved a lot in just four days.
Off to Kansas City for a fun weekend getaway!
First stop was Worlds/Oceans of Fun!
He loved the slide!
That night we checked in to our hotel, showered up, and headed to Seasons 52 for a delicious meal!
After dinner we took a stroll around the Plaza and then called it a night.
Next day we went and shopped around the Plaza and strategically planned to stop at It's Sugar last so the kids would behave the whole time:)
Love these two and their personalities! And of course I love Mike:)
Half way back to our hotel was this fountain so we took a break before climbing the hill to our hotel. This picture melts my heart and makes me think of the sheer joy of being a kid!
Next up was the Royals game. Joden crashed on the way there so we hung out in the car for a short bit to let him catch a short nap.
We all had a great time and the kids did awesome!! Only unfortunate thing was they lost. No one scored until the last inning, ending the game 1-0.
Thanks to a great friend from elementary school, who now works for the Royals, we got some great seats that were thankfully in the shade!
Before heading out on Sunday we went to Westport and enjoyed brunch on the patio and of course it was delicious. Our kids I guess opted for lunch though:)
On the journey home the kids enjoyed their treats from It's Sugar!
Mike is a saint! He has been doing the remodeling of our basement. He works all day and then comes home to work all night. Then he also works a lot on the weekends. Thankfully we will hire some of it out, but I sure know he is ready for this to be over!
Invited some friends to the pool. Joden met Riley through his baseball team this year and luckily he has some pretty awesome sisters:) Reeve and Taleya are the same age and Tayla is a very sweet girl who will be a sixth grader. We had a great day at the pool!
This kid--he loves every activity we have ever put him in! He even begs to be in other things such as Boy Scouts, but we have to draw the line somewhere. Anyhoo, he did soccer camp for 4 days and on the last day of being in the heat this is his smile.💚
My part in the basement will be painting and decorating:) Got the bathroom painted and now am just waiting for the other steps to finish up so I can paint away down there. Looking forward to getting to see it all come together!
Kinkaider for dinner and drinks with some great friends!
Leah and I wanted to taste the beer so we got this HUGE sampler. It was definitely filling, but was great to try them all.
Picking out decor for the guest bedroom! I have had my college comforter on the bed down there for 10 years now so I think it is time to finally purchase one.
This kid has fallen in love with Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Definitely more for pleasure, but I will take it-he's reading. He loves going out to the back porch to read and it warms my heart as I too love reading back there!
Another camp in July--Spy Agency Camp. This was him on his last day showing me what a spy looks like. *I did not send him with his shirt off. He took it off because they played with water guns:)
Right after camp we took off for Sidney to make it in time for Dan and Lisa's reveal party. These did not exist when I was pregnant, but man was it such a fun way to find out!
The Schumacher girls-Shannon-2nd oldest, me, Lisa the mama to be, Brenda-Mike's mom, Kati-the youngest, and Heather-the oldest of the 5. Love these ladies so much and am incredibly thankful for them in my life!
Since we got to spend some time in Sidney we met cousins at the pool!
We even got to see their oldest cousin Grant because he is a lifeguard. It melted my heart how they just went right up to him and loved on him:)
Their cousins-Owen and Anslee in the middle are my sisters kids and Finn and Piper on the right are Mike's sisters kids. They sometimes think they are related since when we come we typically all get together:)
That night my sister wanted to go to a one mile run where all the proceeds were going to the Denver Children's hospital. The Denver Children's hospital holds a special place in my sisters heart due to her delivering Charlee there. Glad we were able to join her and the kids had a blast!
This kid...he put on his sisters glasses after he ran the mile!
Getting our shirts ready for the softball tournament! Every year we go back for the softball tournament in honor of Mike's Uncle Lyle who passed away from cancer. All the money raised is donated to families going through the same experience they did with Lyle. It is such a great time and they always say that Lyle would love knowing that all of us are getting together, doing what he loved, and in the end it is all going to a good cause💜
In between the two days of softball we went to cheer my sister on as she completed a triathlon. These two crazy girls were my cheering partners. Nothing beats being a mom and an aunt-I love AJ's face in this picture💟
My sister has unfortunately gone through a lot and has found joy in exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle. I am so thankful that God led her in a direction to help her overcome the challenges that she has been faced with. Proud of you sis!
We left the kids behind Friday night due to late games so they were pretty pumped for Saturday!
Our niece Piper wanted to wear a headband like Uncle Mike:)
Schumacher girls again!
The girls on our team and Brenda was our cheerleader:)
Mike's Grandpa Jack's birthday was this same day so in honor of him we toasted with his favorite beverage! Glad we were all together and able to do so:)
So a large rain storm came through, which caused the games to get canceled for the rest of Saturday. Instead of playing softball this group played beer darts. I had never saw this game, but in the end was glad I did not play:)
This was our Schumacher crew! Love this people dearly and am definitely thankful for them in my life💙
~And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
