August 2019

August was a month involving getting back in the routine of a set schedule for us all and lots of rain, resulting in flooding our basement.  Luckily all we have to replace is our carpet!  It was a great reminder that although it was not fun, it could always be worse.

For an end of the year party for Joden's baseball team Mike decided to take them to a Saltdogs game in Hastings.  It was a beautiful evening and a fun time!

Reeve was in a one day cooking camp and this was her hat:)

Due to limited camping these summer for multiple reasons, we squeezed in a quick trip to Morman Island!  Also, that Saturday Joden was in the Sludge Trudge at Stuhr Museum with his friend Christian.

Reeve and I snuck in a quick trip to Kearney for school shopping and on a whim we went to the show Newsies!  We had a wonderful time together:)

While we were shopping the boys hit up one more Saltdogs game...this time though they sweated a lot :)

This year begins my new journey as the Education Pathway teacher for the high school.  We are located offsite at the Wyandotte Learning Center.  Here are some pictures of my new digs!

This boy is a sleeper!  He goes so hard that when he slows down sometimes he just cannot keep his eyes open:)

My pick for date night!  We went to Dark Island Trail in the Central City area and rode bikes for about an hour.  Then we enjoyed a yummy dinner in town at a winery/restaurant.

Reeve went and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa for the week so we took Joden out to lunch one day at a cafe we had never tried...it was okay.

State Fair Marathon Relay prep!

Luckily we had a Schumacher wedding out in Colorado so we were able to go by Charlee's gravesite and celebrate her 8th birthday.  Very grateful we were able to make this work!

Wedding fun with family in Sterling, Colorado.  Mike's cousin Darla got married!

In between the wedding and the reception we checked out a local brewery that was delicious!

We decided to throw Kati's baby shower the same weekend at grandma's in order to hopefully catch family that was already in town.  It turned out great and Kati had a great turnout!

On the way home we gave D a ride.  She had also been with my parents all week:)

Reeve had the special opportunity to interview with Dr. Grover for a little back to school deal.  She did so awesome:)

Back to school pics!  Joden 5th grade, Reeve 3rd grade, and mom starting her 13th year.

Our tradition is to always eat the free breakfast on the first day of school!

We had Timberlake scheduled for camping and then had to move weekends due to our nephew Grant coming home from the army.  So, this was our weekend at Timberlake which included paintball, horseback riding, kayaking/canoeing, and a trail ride.  It was a great weekend and very affordable!

Reeve had some teeth pulled at the beginning of summer so we were doing a side by side to see the progress.  So crowded, therefore the goal is to create space!

Back to nights on the go!  Reading in the car:)

My students having conversations and me getting soaked after school one day because it was pouring!

State Fair Marathon Relay!  Joden ran with us this year and he loved it.  He ran 4.9 miles in about 45 minutes!

And so it began:(. It rained all day, Saturday the 24th, so water started to leak in.

We had bought the country bundle tickets to the state fair so I forced Mike to go (which had been the plan) even though he wanted to stay home to take care of the basement.  The boys got to see Brett Eldredge.

We pushed the carnival rides to Sunday, again due to the rain on Saturday!

Mike's birthday was one for the record books.  He unfortunately had to take a day off work to man the basement all day.  He saved our walls from being ruined!

While moving the furniture due to flooding, we found a rotten banana:(

The same day we dealt with the basement my passenger side window got hit by a rock at work, cracking it.  We already replaced it and luckily the school will reimburse me!

These kabobs were supposed to be for Mike's birthday...but we had to wait until the next night.  They were delicious!

The aftermath...no more new carpet.

State Fair fun with the four of us to eat dinner and watch a few shows!

Country bundle tickets for Reeve and I to go see Marren Morris!  We had a blast:)

Love how much she loved her face paint!

Saturday we watched the Husker game with our good friends the Michels!  This is their youngest Turner:)

Lazy Saturday night!  We enjoyed some soup out back and the Husker volleyball game on TV.

Joden being Joden, but also a great summary of August:  fun, bussiness, back to routine, and a flooded basement!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
